FAST Sailors compete in the Valentine's Day Regatta held at St. Petersburg Yacht Club

FAST Optimist and Laser sailors traveled to St. Petersburg Yacht Club in Florida on February 9-10 to participate in the annual Valentine's Day Regatta. There was only one race on the first day because nearby storms forced all sailors to retreat to the safety of the harbor.

Day two started early with a 7:30 am harbor start and NE winds of 10-15 knots. Race commitee set a nice, tight course. The magic number of 5 races were completed before lunch which enabled sailors to drop their worst race. Tampa Bay currents and strong winds made it difficult for sailors to remain behind the line on the starts. Because of the tight time limit, race committee was not shy in raising the Black Flag and stung many sailors. One more race after lunch completed the day.

Congratulations Charlie Lalumiere who was Top FAST optimist sailor, placing 24th overall.
